BUSINESSMAN and former Zanu-PF Chitungwiza Ward 25 councillor Fredrick Mabamba (54) has taken his ex-girlfriend to court accusing her of stealing his car worth $60 000. Mabamba told Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo that Caroline Madovi (33) stole the vehicle as he was in church. He said Madovi lied to his driver and was given the car keys.

She then drove off to an unknown destination. This happened on May 9 when Mabamba was guest of honour at the United Methodist Church at Mberi Primary School in Zengeza 2.

The court heard that Mabamba instructed his driver David Matika to collect a laptop he intended to donate from his car, a Toyota Fortuner.

Madovi allegedly followed Matika and lied that Mabamba had sent her to get the keys from him. The driver handed her the keys. Madovi disappeared with the vehicle for days forcing Mabamba to file a report leading to her arrest.

Madovi denied the charges.

“He is my husband and he employed me in 2011 as his secretary at his school, Fredrick Mabamba School in Zengeza 4. On September 12 in 2012, he called me to his office at Town Centre where he proposed love, but before I accepted he raped me. When I threatened to report the matter to the police, he apologised and promised to marry me,” she said.

Madovi said Mabamba promised to give her a commercial stand, a BMW X5 and a house; and also paid lobola for her.
